For this assignment we were given the choice to do whatever tutorial we wanted on Photoshop. For my first tutorial I choose one of the photos I took of my sister and turned it into a vintage style photo. For my second tutorial I turned one of my macro photos into a collage of polaroids. Original Edited Original Edited What I learned
I learned about a bunch of new tools in Photoshop from both of these assignments From the first assignment I learned about how to change the colorization and how to add a gradient effect to the photo. From the second assignment I learned about using different layers to do different things to the same photo and how to use group layers.

This week I choose light painting for my subject. I met up with some other friends taking the same class and we tried to do some light painting. I tried to use the light to play with coloration and bring focus to and around the subject. (Best photo) Shutter Speed: 15 seconds Aperture: f/5.0 ISO: 400 What I learned
This week I think I learned the most about light exposure from doing the light painting. I learned about using the correct ratio of ISO and aperture when in the dark and when you have a shutter speed of 15 seconds. I think if anything I could use more on the clarity of the pictures but other wise I think they turned out nicely. This week I chose nature as my subject to take pictures of. I thought that while the leaves and plants still have color, since it is fall, that I would take pictures of them. I really tried to bring out details and vibrancy of subjects. best photo ISO 1600 F/4.5 1/1000 What I learned
I learned how to properly adjust ISO and get that right ratio when taking pictures. I also learned how to add more interest in a photo by using the aperture to really capture the subject. I would say that I still have room for improvement still with getting that right ratio. For this assignment we were told to take panoramic, or pano for short, pictures. We had to use a tripod and take 3-5 photos going across a scene. Later we had to put the photographs into photoshop and stitch them together in order to create one big photo/pano. What I learned
Before this assignment the only times I had ever taken a pano was on my phone. Doing that is way less complicated than what we did in the assignment. I learned how to stitch photos together and that you can even stitch them together in different styles as well. I think It ended up pretty nicely in the end. This week I chose animals as my subject for taking photos. I really tried to focus on bringing out my dog'd personality and the little details that people probably wouldn't see at a first glance. I also tried to capture his eyes as well. ISO 3200 F/5.6 Shutter Speed 1/100
This week I chose macro as my topic. I chose this as my topic because I have always enjoyed taking pictures of flowers. This was also a good time for me to pick a topic because my friend has a garden and she let me take picture of her flowers. The goal was to try and capture the little details and bring interest into places people wouldn't normally look at. (best photo) ISO 800 Aperture f/5.6 Shutter speed: 1/250 ISO 320 Aperture f/5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/250 ISO 250 Aperture f/5.6 Shutter Speed 1/250 ISO 100 Aperture f/5.6 Shutter Speed 1/640 ISO 320 Aperture f/5.6 Shutter Speed 1/250 I learned I think most about adjusting and using the lens this week when taking photos. You have to be a certain distance when taking photos of up close objects like glowers. This is some that I didn't know before and I also learned that you can use rule of thirds to make bring out little details
For this assignment we were asked to re touch a photo on photoshop. We needed to take out most of the background and touch up a few spots using the clone tool. The goal of this assignment was to learn about different tools and apply them to the photo. Original photo My edit I learned a lot about Photoshop first off. I didn't even know that something like the clone tool even existed. I also learned about how intricate the process is of editing a photo. You have to pay a lot of attention to details as well. I hope to learn more about photoshop in the future!
This week I have chosen to do macro as my topic. Below are a few photos I found that I think represent macro really well. I hope to really focus on bringing out small details the you wouldn't normally see in the object. I think that these pictures do a really nice job of capturing texture. I think the photographer also brings out the vibrancy of color in the objects as well. I have a friend with a blooming garden so I plan to head there and hopefully get some good photographs.
For the assignment I picked a topic from a list as my subject. This week I chose to do people as my subject. I chose this because over the weekend my mother asked to take my older sister's senior pictures. I tried my best to capture her fun and light personality. Aperture: f5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/80 ISO: 640 Aperture: f4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/80 ISO: 400 Aperture: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/80 ISO: 320 Aperture: f4.5 Shutter Speed: 1/80 ISO: 250 Aperture: f5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/80 ISO: 100 Aperture: f5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/80 ISO: 100 What I Learned:
I think the most important thing I learned is that positioning is key. Using different perspectives or the rule of thirds brings attention to certain details and make the picture interesting. So I positioned my camera and sister in different spots and in the end it made my pictures have a high quality. |
